4th Annual St. Valentine's School Competition

Sunday, 24 February, 2008
Queen of Angels Academy
100 Boulevard Bouchard, Dorval

********************************

The Bernadette Short School of Irish Dancing is pleased to announce that the 4th Annual St. Valentine’s School Competition will be held on Sunday, 24 February, 2008 at Queen of Angels Academy, 100 Boulevard Bouchard, Dorval.

The inaugural event in 2005 fulfilled a long-held desire by Bernadette to hold an event at which students from all her teaching locations could come together in the spirit of friendly competition. The positive feedback from dancers and parents alike suggested that they too appreciated the event.

The St. Valentine’s Day School Competition  is open to all students in the NDG and West Island classes, as well as those in Chateauguay (QC), Shannon (QC), and Champlain Valley (NY). Dancers who have reached the Preliminary Championship or Open Championship levels will not compete, but will be asked to volunteer their expertise in other areas of the Feis.

Beginners and Advanced Beginners will compete in the morning. All first-year Beginners will compete in at least one dance, and up to three. Bernadette will let the children know which dances they will do. Novice and Open (Prizewinner) competitions will be held in the afternoon. These dancers will enter in their usual Feis dance categories.

A Feis Café will be open and this will be an area where you can enjoy a coffee and a treat while waiting for results and awards. Each family is asked to contribute to this endeavor by providing  treats with a “St. Valentine’s Day Theme”. Suggestions are: muffins, loaves, coffee cakes, cookies, brownies, bagels & cream cheese, pita wraps, etc.

Bernadette will distribute the entry forms to dancers at classes during the week of 5 February.
